FOREST RANGE STATION'S WOOL CLIP ANALYSISThe hogget lines are classed to specific micron parameters following the Mid-side sampling results. The micron of each fleece is identified by the computer allowing the classer to use this information to make up lines in various brackets, eg. 14-14.5 micron. Individual fleeces must still satisfy strict visual quality control to qualify for the specialty offering, enabling us to offer lines that are more accurately selected with less variation and therefore lower CVs. Wool can also be selected to meet individual buyers requirements by arrangement. All specialty lines are offered in nylon packs. The property has achieved Grower accreditation status under the Wools of New Zealand Fernmark Quality Programme, ensuring an adherence to best farming and animal welfare practise and commitment to quality.
Hogget average micron 2004 = 14.0 ADDITIONAL WOOL OFFERINGOur store stock and ram buying clients have capitalised on the genetic benefits from following our objective breeding programme. As a result there are a number of properties throughout New Zealand which produce wool that is of similar micron categories to our own. These properties also use mid-side sampling of hoggets and classing of wool aligned with these results. Several of these clips have offered for sale some of the finest bales of wool produced in New Zealand. We believe these would align well with our own clip. A group of our clients have branded themselves as producers of Forest Range ‘Micro-fine’ Merino wool. Forest Range Station and our clients combined produce approximately 300 tonnes of clean fine Merino wool. |
